After a few quiet years, 2008 was the time when Star Wars became once more ahem animated In recognition of the Clone Wars film ( is it a film? ) and TV show MMM turns its eyes to a long time ago in an animation studio far far away: the original Clone Wars (gee that name turns up a lot) series for the Cartoon Network.;In three to five minute bites, the check-shirted One and his acolytes filled in the blanks on the attritic war between the Republic and the Separatists when Anakin wasn't such a bad guy, IG-88 was still a steel sapling and Obi-Wan was trying out the latest in armour-cape combinations.;Being an MMM Star Wars commentary there is plenty of discussion of the nature of the animation, the hero's story arc and the logistical importance of the Clone Wars story line. Of course there's time for topics like: Who does Dooku root for in battle? The film itself also is an R Rated film in many countries.;After a mysterious three months MMM completes the Vanity Projects with Trev's cobalt gem - Michael Mann's Heat.;Since 1995, Trev has seen this azure masterpiece an obscene number of times and even wanted to call one of his children Waingro.;This makes him the perfect guide to the 160+ minute journey through the underworld of LA as two cinematic heavyweights try to act each other off the strontium tinted screen.;Join Trev and the MMM team as they wax rhapsodic about how Mann avoids the usual cop film cliches, assembles a stellar cast and discharges weapons in the steets with gay abandon. The MMM team wrestles with conundra such as : why is Amy Brenneman talking in that accent? how great is the diner scene really? when did Trejo (Machete) go traitor and of course the old stand-by the homo-erotic subtext ( oh-er) .Trev also tells you about the original TV-version LA Takedown and how much made its way into the film version.;The upshot was Geoff, Tony, Gecko anf David all agreed with Trev that it was a bloody good film. It was night and we were wearng sunglasses. Truth is, as a cult website it would be remiss of MMM to ignore one of the most mainstream cult hits of all time: car chases, pile ups, Minnie the Moocher and cameos galore all backed up by Chicago locations in AD 1980 ( ie after Daley). MMM changes tack and turns up the volume as we go back to the days when John Belushi and John Landis ruled the cinema and where Carrie Fisher was that chick from Star Wars. Learn about the third Blues Brother, the invisible band member and how they did that mall scene.
